Starting SoonParent & Me 5K TrainingAdult EnrichmentWhether you're training for your first 5K or dreaming of completing a 10K or half marathon, this beginner-friendly running program is designed to help you build endurance, confidence, and consistency. Parents are encouraged to bring their children (maximum 2 children per parent) to the track to train alongside them, creating a fun and active environment for the whole family. Children ages 2 and under must be in a stroller. Over six weeks, participants will learn proper running techniques, pacing strategies, warm-up and recovery routines, and injury prevention while gradually increasing their distance through a structured training plan. Self Defense Workshop for WomenAdult EnrichmentThis self defense class curriculum is Progressive Self Defense (PSD) which focuses on situational/environmental awareness by enhancing personal security abilities. The core is to identify (mental aspect) and control possible invasive attacks by way of deployment of reasonable force to an assailant. PSD develops the tool kit (knowledge) in order for the individual to be competent and confident to respond in possible high stress scenarios including potential and activated attacks.The "tool kit" is based on:*Situational Awareness and Mindset*Threat Assessment *Counter Measures*Offensive/Defensive Mechanics*Proper deployment of self defense technique (blocks, strikes, and OODA Loop)*How to use the "fight or flight" in your favor*What to do after an attack (legal spectrum)This course ranges from 90 minutes up to 2 hours depending on class size and student understanding of the curriculum being instructed.Community Education 2026-2027 -

The Art of KokedamaAdult EnrichmentThe Art of Kokedama Kokedama, often referred to as the "Japanese moss ball," is a traditional gardening art form that originated in Japan. This technique involves carefully wrapping a plant’s root system in a ball of soil and covering it with moss, creating a beautiful and organic display that can be placed on a decorative surface or suspended. Kokedama encourages a deeper appreciation of nature while offering a creative, relaxing, and hands-on experience suitable for all skill levels. Adult participants may attend individually or as a parent-child pair working together to make one kokedama. Materials Included: The workshop fee covers all necessary supplies for each participant, including the plant, soil, moss, and either decorative twine or flexible wire.Community Education 2026-2027 -

Watercolor - The Magic of Watercolor (Adults)Adult EnrichmentThe Magic of Watercolor Animals (August 25-October 6) In this course, students will learn the basics of working with watercolors and creating watercolor paintings from local full time artist Paul Downs. Each weekly one-hour class will build on the previous week’s lesson and introduce different tools and techniques in the creation of a 6x9 watercolor painting. The class will learn the fundamentals of how to paint with watercolors, how to use additional tools in their creation, and how to finish and display watercolor art. See examples of Paul's work below for a few of the animals that will be in the lessons.
