SAT PrepEnrichmentRequirements for enrollment: Students must have taken the PSAT or SAT and completed Algebra I; students must have a calculator (TI-84 or TI-84 Plus preferred) , a charged laptop or chrome book, and a College Board student account. If you are bringing a personal laptop, download the BlueBook app (Instructions HERE). You will be able to access BlueBoard with your College Board login credentials, so have your login and password. Two-Day SAT Prep Blast The SAT Prep Blast course concentrates on SAT reading, vocabulary, and writing skills along with math practice. The course includes practice in taking the NEW DIGITAL SAT, as well as strategies for sections and question types. Learn to approach the test analytically and with confidence and practice effective test-taking strategies. Examine the format of test sections, modules, question structure and content, as well as practice the skills and techniques for each type of question. Review useful approaches for eliminating guessing, using actual test questions released by College Board. We will use authentic practice materials within Bluebook as well as other SAT practice resources available through the College Board and Khan Academy. Practice work will help identify individual strengths and weaknesses, so additional practice can be tailored to a student’s specific needs. SAT Prep Blast will allow for a full SAT practice test with scoring and feedback. This class meets on one Monday and one Tuesday for a total of 6 hours of instruction. In the Branches of Science camp, students will spend a day with a branch of science to really explore it. Branches of science will feature Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, and Astronomy. Students will investigate, play, create, and experiment in each branch of science. The camp is taught by Cynthia Youmans. Mrs. Youmans teaches at Richmond Hill Middle School and enjoys helping young minds learn how much fun science can be. Open to students entering grades 3 - 6. Snapology CampsSummer Specialty CampsSnapology Camps Bringing STEM to life using LEGO® bricks! Snapology Savannah summer camps provide a fun and safe environment for children to learn science, technology, engineering, and math concepts using LEGO® bricks and other building tools. We offer computer programming, robotics, animation, and STEM based programs as well as other themed favorites. Your child will learn, create, and innovate while having a blast in our camps! Robotics & Super Sampler (July 6-10; 9:00 AM-4:00 PM): Snapology’s Full-Day Robotics & Super Sampler combines hands-on STEM learning with imaginative building for an exciting, well-rounded day. In Creature Creator Robotics, campers design and program animal-inspired robotic models while exploring gear ratios, sensors, simple machines, and coding. In the Super Sampler session, kids dive into creative themes inspired by Star Wars, ninjas, super heroes, mining and crafting, and Harry Potter—bringing each world to life through engaging challenges built with LEGO bricks. In the Robotics Games session, campers create and program their own playable robotic games while exploring gear ratios, sensors, pulleys, and coding—bringing creations like robotic hockey players, pinball machines, and ring toss challenges to life. In Foundational Engineering: Machines and Contraptions, students investigate how simple machines and mechanical movement work by building and testing dynamic models with LEGO bricks. Through designing, experimenting, and collaborative play, campers strengthen problem-solving skills, spark curiosity, and discover the excitement of engineering in action. Spanish & French Language CampSummer Specialty CampsPack your (imaginary) passport and get ready for a week of language, laughter, and global adventure! In this fun and energetic Spanish & French Language Camp, students will explore two exciting world languages side by side through music, games, movement, crafts, and hands-on activities. Campers will learn basic greetings, fun expressions, the alphabet, colors, weather, foods, family words, and more — all while discovering the vibrant cultures, traditions, and holidays of Spanish- and French-speaking countries. From singing catchy songs to playing interactive games and creating themed crafts, each day will feel like traveling to a new place around the world. This camp is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and show students how fun learning a new language can be. Courtesy, respect, perseverance, self-control, and positive thinking are the foundations for achieving success in martial arts training. Master Flemmings is a 7th degree black belt, and he has additional martial arts instruction in Karate, Mudukwan, Hapkido, Jujitsu, Krav Maga (Israeli Self Defense) and Hwa Rang Do. Placement in the class will be determined at time of registration. Uniforms must be worn. Uniforms can be obtained through online purchase using the vendor of your choice. A three-piece, white set with a V-neck top, pants, and belt is recommended. Belt testing is available through the instructor. Take a Bow Theatre Arts CampSummer Specialty CampsTake a Bow Theatre Arts Camp In this camp, your child will participate in an online audition before camp, get cast in a role, rehearse on stage during camp, and perform in a play at the end of camp. Play production involves more than memorizing lines and performing though. By working on stage and backstage, students grow in self-confidence, self-awareness, initiative, responsibility, creative thinking, problem solving, time-management, and group decision-making. Campers will work with Hilary Taft, the RHHS Theatre Arts instructor, and Drama Club leaders to put on a production and learn skills to last a lifetime. Open to students entering grades 4 - 8. Tennis CampSummer Specialty CampsTennis Camp Rally, volley and serve your way through the week! There’s no better way to hone your court skills than to spend a week at a summer tennis camp. If your child has the skills and enthusiasm for exercise, this quality instruction could help lead to a lifetime commitment to the sport. The instruction is designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size. The instructor for this camp is Linda Sun who has taught tennis through the Community Education program for many years. Mrs. Sun is a member of the Richmond Hill Area Tennis Association where she serves as an instructor. She is also a member of the Professional Tennis Registry. Parents will need to purchase a 21, 23, or 25-inch racket for their child from any sporting goods outlet or discount store. If you do not have a racket or do not know what size your child needs, the instructor will provide a sample for your child to try before making a purchase. Tormenta FC Soccer CampSummer Specialty CampsTormenta FC Soccer Camp is a week-long program for kids that promotes soccer skill development, game play, and having fun. Students will learn the finer points of dribbling, passing, scoring, and defending, and by the end of the week, will put all of their skills together to play real soccer games. Track & Field/Cross Country CampSummer Specialty CampsTrack & Field/Cross Country Camp If your child can run or jump or throw, then they have a home with Track & Field. Better yet, if they can run or jump or throw, we guarantee we know some tips and tricks to sharpen their current ability while learning techniques that will benefit them in all sports beyond Track & Field. This camp is designed and led by RHHS’s USATF Level 1 certified Savannah Morning News’ Coach of the Year, Levi Sybert, along with a diverse group of RHHS XC and TF Small Group Leaders. Focused on developing the same fundamentals that have brought prominence and excitement to the raw possibilities of Track & Field and Cross Country at RHHS, camp participants will experience firsthand how to find fun in an activity they can do anywhere at any time. Through a variety of interactive activities like relays, running form, and jumps that culminate in a mini meet, each participant will realize their physical and mental capability that can always be moving forward. Camp participants will be grouped in like grade groups so that similar physical and mental abilities will be paired together for enhanced experiences. Open to students entering grades 1-7. Volleyball Camp at MESSummer Specialty CampsGrow the game together! Purpose: Develop fundamental volleyball skills while teaching teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship. Beginners This camp’s primary focus is all about the basics, designed to teach the fundamentals of the sport and develop the proper techniques and skills for hand-eye coordination, agility, body movement, and ball control to play the game. Team play will be introduced and incorporated with a focus on fun while learning skills. *If you previously attended Volleyball Skills & Drills and are still uncomfortable with passing, setting, and serving - this camp is for you. Reminders: Every child needs to bring their own water bottle. Bring plenty of water, one snack, and proper sports attire (shorts, T-shirt, and comfortable running sneakers with good grip or volleyball shoes). **If you have/plan on buying volleyball shoes, they are STRICTLY meant for indoor court use, please come in a different pair of shoes (i.e., crocs, slides, flip flops), and once the inside player can change shoes.
