Self Defense for Women at Del WebbAdult EnrichmentThis self defense class curriculum is Progressive Self Defense (PSD) which focuses on situational/environmental awareness by enhancing personal security abilities. The core is to identify (mental aspect) and control possible invasive attacks by way of deployment of reasonable force to an assailant. PSD develops the tool kit (knowledge) in order for the individual to be competent and confident to respond in possible high stress scenarios including potential and activated attacks.The "tool kit" is based on:*Situational Awareness and Mindset*Threat Assessment *Counter Measures*Offensive/Defensive Mechanics*Proper deployment of self defense technique (blocks, strikes, and OODA Loop)*How to use the "fight or flight" in your favor*What to do after an attack (legal spectrum)This course ranges from 90 minutes up to 2 hours depending on class size and student understanding of the curriculum being instructed.Community Education 2026-2027 -
TaekwondoSports & FitnessTaekwondo is translated into “the way of the hands and feet” and is designed to enhance balance, agility, and flexibility. Courtesy, respect, perseverance, self-control, and positive thinking are the foundations for achieving success in martial arts training. Master Flemmings is a 7th degree black belt, and he has additional martial arts instruction in Karate, Mudukwan, Hapkido, Jujitsu, Krav Maga (Israeli Self Defense) and Hwa Rang Do. Placement in the class will be determined at time of registration. Uniforms must be worn. Uniforms can be obtained through online purchase using the vendor of your choice. A three-piece, white set with a V-neck top, pants, and belt is recommended. Belt testing is available through the instructor. Please note that no spectators are allowed in the building during class sessions.Community Education 2025-2026 -

Taekwondo is translated “the way of the hands and feet” and is designed to enhance balance, agility, and flexibility. Courtesy, respect, perseverance, self-control, and positive thinking are the foundations for achieving success in martial arts training. Master Flemmings is a 7th degree black belt, and he has additional martial arts instruction in Karate, Mudukwan, Hapkido, Jujitsu, Krav Maga (Israeli Self Defense) and Hwa Rang Do. A three-piece, white martial arts uniform set with a V-neck top, pants, and belt is recommended. If you do not have a uniform, sweatpants or long, athletic pants and a t-shirt are acceptable for camp. No shorts or dresses are allowed. Open to students entering grades K-7. Before and after care are NOT available for the camps at George Washington Carver Elementary (June 8-26). Before care available for morning camps held at Community Ed (June 29-July 17).
