This class, taught by Marylin Daniels and Marylin Jacobs of the Marylin Youmans School of Dance of Savannah, offers an introduction to ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical dance styles with a focus on rhythm, technique, coordination, flexibility and performance skills while building students' confidence. Black leotards, black or pink tights or black shorts instead of tights, pink ballet shoes, and caramel (tan) tap shoes are recommended but not required. Offered for grades PK-5. -
Enrichment Art
Enrichment Art will include 2D and 3D projects such as painting, drawing, collage, paper beads, and sculpture. Students will have fun exploring their artistic talents while learning new skills and art techniques. Projects will differ from those offered during the school art class. Transport available only to students enrolled at Frances Meeks Elementary at the Frances Meeks Elementary location. -
Specialty Art - Creating with Clay!
Creating with Clay! Indulge in the messy fun of pinching, pulling, and pushing clay in a six-week ceramic class. Offered twice a year, this class is perfect for students who want to use clay for the first time or work with the material more! With an "open studio" feel, students will improve their skills with clay while fostering their own creativity in creating one-of-a-kind ceramic works. Students can expect to leave with 2-3 fully fired and glazed ceramic pieces that can last a lifetime! Open to grades 2-5. *Note: No transport provided for this class for students not enrolled in RHES or Carver ASP. Students must be dropped off and picked up by parents. -
Specialty Art - Little Hands, Big Art!
Little Hands, Big Art! In this creative class, young artists will explore a variety of art materials while making cute keepsakes to treasure. Children will try out different mediums in a fun, age-appropriate way, encouraging imagination, hands-on discovery, and a love of art. Open to grades PK-1. -
Watercolor Animation Studio (Middle/High School)
Watercolor Animation Studio (Middle/High School) In this course students will learn the basics of working with watercolors and creating watercolor paintings of anime and animation characters from local artist Paul Downs. Each weekly one-hour class will build on the previous week’s lesson and introduce different tools and techniques in the creation of a 6x9 watercolor painting. The class will learn the fundamentals of how to paint with watercolors, how to use additional tools in their creation, and how to finish and display watercolor art. See examples of Paul's work below for a few of the animation subjects that will be in the first session. Subsequent sessions will feature other animation subjects. -
