Little Medical School: Doctor's Bag & Body Basics (January 7-February 25)

8-week hands-on medical science class

In Little Medical School: Doctor’s Bag & Body Basics, students become “little doctors” as they explore the tools doctors use and learn how different parts of the body work. Students will practice using medical instruments, learn about the heart, lungs, digestion, surgery, the five senses, the nervous system, the brain, and even some “gross” but important body science like mucus and burping. This session ends with a Little Medical School graduation celebration.

Students may receive or take home items such as: a student lab coat, stethoscope, Little Doctor workbook, red balloon lung activity, human body activity sheets, surgery practice materials, optical illusion activities, artwork, brain model, thinking cap, fake mucus activity, and graduation diploma.

Registration note: This is one of two different 8-week Little Medical School doctor sessions. Students may take this class by itself, or they may also take Little Medical School: Medical Skills & Safety for the full doctor program experience. No previous Little Medical School class is required. Open to grades 1-5.

Little Medical School: Medical Skills & Safety (March 11-May 6)

8-week hands-on medical science class

 In Little Medical School: Medical Skills & Safety, students continue exploring medical science through bones, the spine, pharmacy safety, eyes, vaccines, blood, and doctor careers. Students will learn how the spine protects the spinal cord, what bones are made of, how to prevent accidental poisonings, how eyes react to light, why vaccinations matter, what blood does in the body, and what it takes to become a doctor. This session ends with a Little Medical School graduation celebration.

 Students may receive or take home items such as: a student lab coat, stethoscope, Little Doctor workbook, spine model, bone model, sticker skeleton, poison safety activity sheets, eye model, syringe practice tool, vaccine education poster, blood model, medical bingo card, doctor’s office activity sheet, and graduation diploma.

Students may take this class by itself, or they may also take Little Medical School: Doctor’s Bag & Body Basics for the full doctor program experience. No previous Little Medical School class is required. Open to grades 1-5.

Little Medical School: Pediatrician for Preschool (March 11-May 6)

Preschool hands-on medical science class

In Little Medical School, preschool students become “little pediatricians” as they learn how to care for babies and children. Students will adopt a baby doll for class activities and practice gentle, age-appropriate baby care skills, including holding a baby safely, measuring a baby, performing a pretend check-up, changing a diaper, feeding and burping a baby, giving a pretend bath, helping a baby get ready for sleep, caring for a sick baby, swaddling, using a nasal aspirator, and learning how big siblings can help keep babies safe. The program includes pediatrician office, babysitter, and big sibling role-play activities, and ends with a Little Medical School graduation celebration. 

 Students may receive, use, or take home items such as: a student lab coat for class activities, a baby doll for class activities, a baby bracelet activity, a paper tape measure, diapering and check-up activities, bottle-feeding and burping practice, a swaddling activity, sick baby care activities, baby safety activities, a bottle, and a graduation diploma. Open to ages 3-5.
