Applied Music

Applied Music

Students in this course will have a curriculum tailored to their individual needs and level as they study musical instrument methods, theory, aural skills, and history. Students may choose to focus on voice, piano, strings, composition and songwriting, or other band/orchestra/popular musical instruments they would like to explore or improve. (The instructor has a master's degree in music and over a decade of experience teaching and performing in multiple modalities. ) Students should provide their own instruments and bring a blank bullet journal or sketchbook to class. A questionnaire will be sent out prior to the start of lessons to help design each student's learning plan for their current goals.

This class is designed to continue throughout the school year, but it will be structured in six-week sessions with a one-week break between sessions.  Once placed in a class, you will remain in the class for the school year and be charged at the start of each six-week session. It is possible for students to change focus to a new instrument or modality at the start of a new six-weeks if desired.

*Please note that all students are placed on a waiting list at the time of registration to allow staff to place students in an appropriate day and time.  Once all spaces are filled and a true waiting list exists, registrants will be contacted as space becomes available. If demand warrants, additional classes may be added.  Please call the Community Ed office if you have questions regarding placement.
